Top day !!! :) after a week of early starts at work it was nice to have a bit of a lay in, do my exercises in the garden and then mag and I biked to the lovely Landguard for breakfast on my super new Cannondale bike - what a great smooth ride - top gears and brakes - love it :) It was busy on the beach with walkers and families fishing and we spot a seal playing in the waves with the cormorants and terns :) There was a nice breeze but it was still wsw - cross off, it was supposed to swing a little in the afternoon. So it was home for lunch and load my gear on my newly repaired trailor, I drove to The Dip first where Steve Carter was about to rig but the wind was still a bit off, The Fludgers was probably the best bet in this direction but the beach here was very busy and there were no parking spots - also the sea here is particularly bumpy so I continued to the carpark at Landguard, where the sea fisherman keep their boats and although the wind was still cross off I think this is the fastest end of Felixstowe and was keen to give it ago !!! and there were two others out having launched from the caravans so I had some company :) Gear choice was a problem as the wind was a little way offshore and it seemed light so I went for the big xantos again - I am loving this board now - great for 8.5 and 9.4 - I am even managing to gybe it now :) The first run out I hit 24 kts by sailing broad so things were looking good but sadly the wind was very up and down and it took awhile to get back upwind !!! Still I had an hour and half in the sunshine before coming in for some snacks and then the wind filled in, gusting over 20 kts !!! and I had a couple of mega broad runs up the coast making a 24 kt mile both times - my best of the year :) Sadly I have yet another hole in my Tushingham Lightning 8.5 so I am looking for another one to replace it - can anyone help ? It's looking mega windy tomorrow but with rain so don't know what to do - it would be nice to find some flat water but the tide at Southend is not brilliant !!!
